A man snatched Greta Thunberg’s mic amid pro-Palestinian slogans during the Israel-Hamas war and said she was not here for a political viewpoint.

When climate activist Greta Thunberg was giving a speech on Sunday, an attacker misbehaved with her. Greta was speaking at a large climate protest in Amsterdam when a man stormed the stage and snatched her microphone.

“I’m here for a climate protest, not a political viewpoint,” the man said, trying to grab the microphone from Greta’s hand. According to the BBC report, chants of “Palestine will be free” could be heard from the crowd shortly before the incident.

This incident was captured on camera and is being shared widely on social media.

Earlier, an activist’s speech during the rally was cut short by organizers after she used the slogan “From river to sea, Palestine will be free”, according to news agency Reuters.

Many Jewish groups have expressed objection to the slogan being used in demonstrations around the world as a call for the destruction of Israel. While pro-Palestinian activists argue that the phrase calls for an end to Israel’s occupation of the West Bank and blockade of Gaza, not Israel’s elimination.

After the man was removed from the stage, Greta joined the crowd and began chanting “No climate justice on occupied lands”, the BBC reported.

The Swedish climate activist came under fire last month for sharing pro-Palestinian messages on social media, with some accusing her of not showing support for Israeli victims of Hamas attacks.

Mass demonstrations are taking place in various cities around the world, including London and Washington, calling for a ceasefire as Israel continues to attack the Gaza Strip in response to surprise attacks by Hamas on October 7.

More than 11,000 Palestinians have been killed in the besieged enclave so far, according to Gaza’s Hamas-run health authorities, as health facilities in the area have been overwhelmed by bombardment.
