Antony Blinken says US-India partnership deepened, cooperation enhanced through Quad Israel Hamas war

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday said the United States has deepened its partnership with India and enhanced cooperation with India, Japan and Australia through the Quad. He also said that America’s partnership in the Indo-Pacific region has never been stronger.

“We have deepened our partnership with India. We have expanded cooperation through the Quad with India, Japan, Australia,” Blinken said in remarks at his year-end press availability on Wednesday.

The Quad is a diplomatic network between the US, India, Japan and Australia.

Speaking on the war between Israel and Hamas, Blinken said Washington would continue to focus intensely on its core priorities: “Helping Israel ensure that what happened on October 7 can never happen again, a conflict reducing and ending it as quickly as possible.” Loss of life and suffering of civilians.”

The release of hostages and preventing further spread of the conflict were other priorities listed by Blinken, adding: “Breaking forever the destructive cycle of violence and moving toward durable, lasting peace.”

He said, “We believe that Israel does not have to choose between eliminating the threat of Hamas and reducing the toll on civilians in Gaza. It has an obligation to do both and it is in its strategic interest to do both.”

On US and Indo-Pacific relations, Blinken said the US is “working with the United Kingdom and Australia to produce nuclear-powered submarines.”

“We launched new comprehensive strategic partnerships with Vietnam and Indonesia, a new defense cooperation agreement with the Philippines, new trilateral initiatives with the Philippines and Japan, new embassies in the Solomon Islands and Tonga,” he said.

The US Secretary of State also said Washington is more closely engaged than ever with the G7, the EU and other allies and partners on the challenge posed by Beijing.
