Maldives elected President Muizzoo will take oath on Friday, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju will represent India

Maldives’ newly elected President Mohammed Muizzu will take oath in the capital Male on Friday. Union Earth Sciences Minister Kiren Rijiju will represent India at the swearing-in ceremony. Rijiju arrived in Maldives on Thursday to represent India on the invitation of Muizzu.

Muizzoo, a close aide of former Maldivian President Abdulla Yameen, who enjoyed close ties with China during his presidency (2013 to 2018), had defeated India-friendly Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in the presidential election held in September.

India is set to host the Voice of Global South summit on Friday

India is all set to host the Voice of Global South Summit in virtual mode on Friday. This summit will build on the success of the first edition held in January 2023 and the outcomes of various G20 meetings held under the chairmanship of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the summit and there will be about eight parallel ministerial sessions. The Prime Minister will preside over both the inaugural and concluding sessions.

According to a release from the Ministry of External Affairs, the summit is structured into 10 sessions to bring together leaders to discuss important issues. The theme of the inaugural leaders’ session is “Together, for All, with All Trust”, underscoring the importance of collaborative progress. The concluding leaders’ session, themed “Global South: Together for One Future”, outlined collective aspirations for an integrated and progressive world order.

Kharge will release Congress manifesto in Telangana, Rahul Gandhi will address rallies

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will release the party’s manifesto for the upcoming Telangana elections on Friday. He and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will participate in separate election rallies across Telangana.

Gandhi will address street meetings and road shows covering five assembly constituencies in the poll-bound state.
