December 2023 Festival and Fast List: The last month of the year, December, is about to begin. December 1, 2023 is the Chaturthi of Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha month. Christmas festival is also celebrated in December. According to the Hindu calendar, December will be the month of Margashirsha dedicated to Lord Krishna.   • 5 December 2023- Kaal Bhairav ​​Jayanti, Kalashtami

    Kaal Bhairav ​​is considered to be the fierce form of Lord Shiva. Kaal Bhairav ​​was born in the month of Margashirsha and is known as the provider of justice. It is believed that worshiping him removes fear and removes planetary defects.

  • 8 December 2023- Utpana Ekadashi

    Ekadashi originated from the part of Lord Vishnu on Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Margashirsha month. On this day, a demon named Mur threatened the life force of Lord Vishnu, and a goddess saved him, due to which Vishnu named him Ekadashi.

  • 10 December 2023- Pradosh Vrat (Krishna)

    Pradosh Vrat is observed on the thirteenth day of every month. On this day, Shiva Linga is bathed after sunset to please Lord Shiva. It is believed that all the wishes are fulfilled by this.

  • 11 December 2023- Monthly Shivratri

  • 12 December 2023- Margashirsha Amavasya

    Amavasya is considered like a festival. It is believed that bathing in the Ganga and donating on the new moon day in the month of Margashirsha removes Pitra Dosha and provides relief from the effects of Saturn’s Mahadasha.

  • 16 December 2023- Dhanu Sankranti, Vinayak Chaturthi, beginning of Kharmas.

    On Dhanu Sankranti, Sun enters Sagittarius. With the entry of Sun into Sagittarius, Kharmas starts and auspicious works are banned.

  • 17 December 2023- Vivah Panchami

    Lord Ram and Goddess Sita were married on the day of Vivah Panchami. Doing all auspicious work on this day is considered auspicious.

  • 18 December 2023- Champa Shashthi

  • 22 December 2023- Mokshada Ekadashi, Geeta Jayanti

    Mokshada Ekadashi is known to provide liberation. On this day, it is advised to do special worship of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu and perform night vigil to attain salvation.

  • 23 December 2023- Vaikuntha Ekadashi

  • 24 December 2023- Pradosh Vrat (Shukla)

  • 26 December 2023 – Margashirsha Purnima Vrat, Dattatreya Jayanti, Annapurna Jayanti, Tripura Bhairavi Jayanti

Purnima Vrat, the last day of Margashirsha month, is considered highly auspicious to please Goddess Lakshmi. By taking bath and donating on this day, all troubles go away.

  • 28 December 2023- Guru Pushya Yoga

  • 30 December 2023- Akhurtha Sankashti Chaturthi
