An Indian student, who went missing last month, was found dead in the River Thames in London, United Kingdom. The student has been identified as Mitkumar Patel, 23, who came to Britain for higher studies in September and was reported missing on November 17. According to a PTI report, Patel had failed to return home from his daily walk where he was staying in London, which raised concerns among his relatives and they reported him missing. He noticed that Patel had left his bunch of keys behind.

The report said Patel was to move to Sheffield on November 20 to pursue a degree at Sheffield Hallam University and start a part-time job at Amazon. Mitkumar’s frantic relatives began contacting missing persons charities and canvassing areas he frequented with posters and flyers, The Evening Standard news outlet reported.

The Metropolitan Police found his body in the River Thames near the Canary Wharf area of east London on 21 November and paramedics pronounced him dead.

The Evening Standard quoted the Met Police as saying, “The death is not being treated as suspicious.”

A relative of Mitkumar set up a ‘GoFundMe’ fundraiser and has raised over GBP 4,500 since last week.
