Speaking at the inauguration of three police stations at Nanjangud in Mysuru district, the Chief Minister stressed that choices related to dress and food are personal and should not be imposed without undue restrictions. Addressing the crowd, Siddaramaiah took a dig at the BJP and accused them of sidelining those wearing caps, burqas and beards despite the slogan of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’.

Responding to a question from the audience regarding hijab restrictions, Siddaramaiah clarified, “No (restriction). You can wear hijab. I have instructed (officials) that there will be no restrictions from tomorrow. You can wear whatever you want.” You can wear and eat what you want. It’s up to you.” He added, “Your choice is yours and my choice is mine. It’s that simple.” Comparing their attire, he said, “I wear dhoti and kurta and you wear pants and shirt. It’s your choice. What’s wrong in that?”
